Gibbsboro is a small borough that is located in Camden County, New Jersey. The borough was created through an act of the New Jersey legislature on March 8th, 1924. Gibbsboro was created from segments of land that were once a part of Voorhees Township. The portions were allowed to be taken due to the results of a referendum that took place on April 11th, 1924.
When the borough was incorporated it was quite small and by the first census had grown to a population of only 622. The area has grown over the years, but today only has a population of 2,435, according to the 2000 census. This small borough borders Lindenwold as well as Voorhees. Today the median income of the area is $57,326 with the per capita income being $26,035. With a population of just 2,435 the borough boasts 829 households of which 664 are families. The small borough is a great place for singles and families alike.
Gibbsboro lies on the transition area between the inner and outer coastal plain. The water to the east flows to the Atlantic Ocean and the water to the west flows to the Delaware river. Gibbsboro has 6 lakes and 5 streams which form the headwaters to the Cooper River. Gibbsboro's heritage dates back to the 1700's when the first mills were constructed along the streams. The town had evolved over time from a cluster of mills, to an industrial company village, to a suburb of Philadelphia. Today, Gibbsboro still maintains its small town community charm and natural settings which can be appreciated by all.
