A Bit About Somerdale
Somerdale, New Jersey is a charming borough located in Camden County, New Jersey. At the time of the United States 2000 Census the borough boasted a population of 5,192 and the estimated population in 2005 was slightly less.
The borough of Somerdale first came to be on April 23, 1929, and the area is proud to have been in existence for more than 75 years. The borough originated as part of Clementon Township and was one of seven different municipalities that were created from the township. Some of the other municipalities that were created on the same date were Hi-Nella Borough, Lindenwold Borough, Pine Hill Borough, and Pine Valley Borough. After these municipalities were created Clementon Township was no more, though all of the municipalities have continued on until today.
The land area that is Somerdale, New Jersey is quite small, measuring just 1.4 miles. Of this land area there is no water. In the 1.4 miles that makes up the township there are 2,168 households, making for a household density of 1,577.95. Some of the communities that border Somerdale are Gloucester Township, Hi-Nella, Lawnside, Lindenwold, Magnolia, Stratford, and Voorhees. The grouping of these townships and town makes the area attractive to a variety of people.
