A Bit About Berlin Borough

Berlin Borough, New Jersey was incorporated as a Borough after being separated from Berlin Township on March 29, 1927. Originally called the village of ‘Long-A-Coming’ by the Indians(Becuase of being on the Lonaconing indian trail from the river to the sea.), it was first settled in 1714, and has grown ever since.

Berlin Borough, as well as Berling Township, since they were originally one and the same, found its beginnings with the early settlers of Camden County, but didn’t come into its own until 1889 when Messers, Newlin & Sons photographers came to town and took several beautiful pictures which prompted David English, a surveyor and landscaper, to come to the area and help develop it. Since then the Borough has grown and flourished as it has come into its own. Boasting a rural feel and a central location that cannot be beat. Not only does this allow for easy access to areas such as D.C., and Philadelphia, but it makes for an easy jaunt to N.Y.C. as well.

Berlin Borough is in the First Congressional District and is part of New Jersey’s 6th Legislative District, has its own independent school district, and access to mass transit making it all the more easy to call this area home, while commuting to work in a very painless manner.
