A Bit About Audubon
Audubon is a small borough with a population of just over 9,000 residents. This relatively small borough is located in Camden County, New Jersey. Audubon was recognized as a borough by an act of the New Jersey legislature on March 13, 1905. The pieces of the area that became Audubon were once part of Haddon Township, which now borders what is known as Audubon. Forty two years later, segments of Audubon were taken to from the borough of Audubon Park.
Today Audubon has a total area that consists of 1.5 miles, with 1.32% of that area being covered by water. Audubon borders several other areas such as Audubon Park, Haddon Heights, Haddon Township, Haddonfield, Mount Ephraim, and Oaklyn. Populations in the area have risen and fallen over the years with the peak population occurring in 1970 at 10,802 according to official census report and a steady decline since then.
Of the reported 9,182 residents still living in the borough, according to the most recent census, there are 3,673 households and 2,387 families. Over 30% of the households have children under the age of 18, almost 50% are married couples, and 35% are non-family households. The area is very diverse in the way of ethnic backgrounds and the median income for Audubon is just over $49,000 per year. With just over 9,000 residents Audubon boasts a small town atmosphere that is great for families, the elderly, and singles. With so many other townships and boroughs bordering the area you can find just about anything you need or want in or around Audubon!
