A Bit About Medford Lakes

Medford Lakes has a very unique origination.  It’s concept was to be a vacation resort with a mandatory requirement that all homes constructed must be made of log.  Cedar logs were imported, because their porous nature provided excellent insulation in both summer and winter, and they were crafted into homes.  The homes, nestled in amonst the pine trees, and surrounded by small lakes, blended well with the area.  By 1939, Medford Lakes had evolved from a seasonal resort to a year round community.  By the 1950′s the resitrictions had started to relax, and immitation log siding was allowed.  Today, you can find all the modern day construction as well as the log cabins from Medford Lake’s resort beginnings.
