A Bit About Beverly

Bordering the Delaware river in Burlington County, the borough of Beverly was commissioned as a city in 1857 by the New Jersey Legislature, and with a population of 2,661 it is the smallest incorporated city in the state of New Jersey. Originally founded as a transportation hub, Beverly City became more than a rural gathering place due to the Camden and Amboy Railroad, which was used as a conduit to take people to and from several places; most notably Philadelphia, and that draw has stretched through to modern times. The railway has once again become a large part of the City as it helps commuters get to and from more urban destinations such as New York, and once again, Philadelphia.

Beverly City is also the home of Dunks Ferry, one of the earliest known ferries in the colonial U.S. and it played an important role in the movement of troops during the American Revolutionary War. Both the British and upstart Colonials used the ferry many times during the war, and Washington himself is said to have used the ferry in order to advance upon Trenton. Beverly is also the home of the Beverly National Cemetery, which was formerly the Civil War Hospital and is where 45,000 patriots have been laid to rest.

A beautiful city that has managed to keep a rural feel about it, Beverly is conveniently located close to three major metropolitan areas, D.C., New York City, and Philadelphia(commute made easier by the railway.), on top of the historical significance and natural allure of the city making it a definite place to consider when looking for a home.
