Las Vegas just received the distinction for having the largest LEED certified building in the world, the Palazzo. The commercial industry is leading the charge into green construction. It makes sense, since utilities are a huge cost of doing business and will just keep going up.

This is a really informative post. The LEED certification is gaining popularity in a big way out here in California, I am not sure of the numbers for comercial buildings but I know we just had a house completed in Venice Ca. it's now on the market at a whopping $2,850,000.00.

I can see how the largest gains in energy saving will be via commercial buildings, but have there been any attempts to incorporate the green building techniques into residential construction in NJ.

The Greater Atlanta Homebuilders Association has instituted what it calls Earthcraft House and then there is the EPA's Energy Star Rating which is has even more demanding requirements.
